Hello, my name is Rossy García and this is my second year as a school counselor and as the 8th grade counselor at Ligon GT Magnet Middle School. I'm excited to work with the new 8th graders and I'm looking forward to helping them navigate the school year and the transition to high school.
I have a bachelors degree in Biology from Wheaton College in Norton, MA and I spent many years working in the environmental and biotech industries. I've always enjoyed mentoring teens and young adults so I finally decided to pursue a degree in School Counseling. I graduated from NC State University with a Master of Education in School Counseling in May 2016. I'm an active member of the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) and the North Carolina School Counseling Association (NCSCA). I was born in the Dominican Republic and Spanish is my first language. Prior to moving to Raleigh I lived in New York, southern New England, and South Carolina. I love to travel and I've had the privilege to do so extensively both internationally and domestically. I like to play around with macro photography and my "to be read" pile is truly getting ridiculous. I hesitate to mention that I'm a master gardener volunteer in Durham County because my garden can most politely be described as "lacking." |
